Gaia and the Sacred is a one-day conference made possible through a fellowship from the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences. This conference will explore the ways in which religion, ethics, and the sciences shape our understanding of who we are, as humans, within the natural world. Speakers will include Dr. Rosemary Radford Ruether and Dr. Carolyn Merchant with responding presentations by Dr. Karen Baker-Fletcher on "Eco-womanist Eco-theology," Dr. John Cobb, Jr. on "Ecology and Economics," Dr. Carol S. Robb on "Theological Ethics." and Dr. Hava Tirosh-Samuelson on "Judaism and Ecology." Keynote Address by Dr. Carol P. Christ whose forthcoming book is titled, She Who Changes: Re-imagining the Divine in the World due to be released in June 2003 by Palgrave Macmillan/St. Martin's Press.
