Reference Desk Hours
Drop-In Assistance
Research help is available from a real, live human being at the library's Reference
Desk. Reference Librarians are trained subject specialists who can
help you:
- Locate a specific fact, or answer a specific question
- Find a particular book, journal, journal article, video, slide
set, or audio tape
- Get started on a research topic
- Find materials on a particular topic
- Provide basic instruction on research skills such as finding
journal articles, searching for books, or how to use Biblical
reference tools
- Assist you in using electronic research tools such as the ATLA
Religion Database
- Suggest additional avenues for researching a topic
You may come in person or call the Reference Desk during its open hours. Feel free to call ahead or email us, particularly if you are coming from a distance.
Email the Reference Desk
Email questions may be sent to library@gtu.edu. You may also use these online forms for faster service. A human being will receive these form submissions and will answer you by the next working day.
You can learn more on your own with our online Research Guides. You can also try our Interactive Games

P.A.T.H. (Paper and Thesis Help)
Set up an individual consultation with a Reference Librarian for
help with getting started on a project. A Reference Librarian will
advise you on an initial research strategy and walk you through
the process. Interested students should have a specific topic already
in mind. If this is a topic that other people in your class will
also be doing, please let us know, or ask your instructor to contact
us. A P.A.T.H. form may be downloaded or obtained at the Reference
Desk. Please bring the form in to the Reference Desk and a staff
member will make an appointment with you on the spot. You may also
call the Reference Desk to make an appointment.
