Blackboard at GTU: Information and Help for Students

Get Your Blackboard Username and Password

The registrar of your school distributes your username and password. Please see your registrar.

• Your username and password for Blackboard are the same as your WebAdvisor username and password.
  
  
• Registered auditors and cross-registered students from other schools (e.g., UCB students) should consult the registrar of the GTU member school offering the class. Please allow three working days to set up new accounts.

Enroll in Your Blackboard Course

• How to enroll
  
  
• Enrolling in a course in Blackboard is not the same as registering for it with the GTU Common Registrar. Students must self-enroll in Blackboard courses.
  
  
• In order to access the class Blackboard course site, you must "enroll" yourself into the specific course site. See instructions above.

Check Your Browser

• The current version of the Blackboard system fully supports only certain browsers on certain operating systems. See Supported Browsers for a list. Although Firefox is not on this list, most Blackboard functions will work with this browser.
  
  
• If you are unsure of what browser or operating system you are using, please contact the GTU Library Reference Desk (see Get Help).

Fix Email Problems / Fix Personal Info

• How to fix email/personal info problems
  
  
• If you are not receiving email messages from your instructor, but other people are, then you probably need to update your personal profile in Blackboard.
  
  
• Please also be advised that your Blackboard account is created from the information in your WebAdvisor record (your official record with the school registrar). If your email was missing or was incorrect in WebAdvisor at the time that your account was created, then your Blackboard account will also have missing or incorrect information.

• Are you having to enter your username and password twice before you can enter Blackboard? Be sure to bookmark the Blackboard home page, http://blackboard.gtu.edu and NOT the login page (http://blackboard.gtu.edu/webapps/login). Starting from the login page instead of the actual home page will cause this problem.
  
  
• Access the Blackboard Online Help Manual:
  1. Enter course site.
  2. Click on TOOLS in the navigation panel on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. You will see the link to the manual in the list that appears.
